My name is Heeweon Joo, and I am an Education Venture Analyst (EVA). I am currently in the first semester at the University of British Columbia’s Masters in Educational Technology. This page was created to complete one of the required assignments in ETEC 522 (Ventures in Educational Technology). Aside from being a part-time student, I am working at a small independent school on Vancouver Island as an admin. Educational Technology has always been a fascination to me from the start of my career. Specifically, I am interested in the role VR and AR in education and would like to be part of its growth shortly.
I have created this webpage to analyse a company called Lyfta, which I have stumbled upon during my research in educational VR. Looking at it more deeply, I was captivated by the potential of VR storytelling and the value (other than subject knowledge) it could teach. Lyfta is recognized by international organizations and has been awarded for its capabilities. Another striking point about this company is the team of professionals behind the scene. The two CEOs, Serdar Ferit and Paulina Tervo, they bring in one of the most valuable assets for the business. They are both internationally recognized documentary producers who were awarded for their skills in storytelling. Storytelling is the key feature for this business as good immersive storytelling is what will bring out the real emotions, reactions, and learning moment from the students. With their skill combined with professionals who aid in programming, designing, and teaching, they have the perfect team. With future investments from our investors, I see farther growth regarding content, knowledge, and research for it becomes an even more key player in its field. |
